Here are some delights from the land of Japan. I hope you enjoy all the excitement they have to offer your eyes.
Cornelius & Takagi Masakatsu - Toner
A short snippet of visual/audio magic made by Takagi Masakatsu and Cornelius. Their ode to laser jet printers is a quick and colorful piece of inky action.
OOIOO - UMO
OOIOO have successfully covered Roberto de Simone's classic "Secondo Coro Delle Lavandaie" and the video is more than any wild beast could ask for. Strap on your tribal headgear and get ready for an adventure into the land of more than ok clay. This is a raucous adventure ready to be embarked upon.
Nobukazu Takemura - Sign
Nobukazu Takemura was one of the first dublab guests to ever grace our airwaves. He has always captured our imaginative ears with his playful melodies and flipped rhythmic sense. This animated video is an exciting accompaniment to an awesome song.
Asa-Chang & Junray - Hana
This is one of the most beautiful, strange songs my ears have ever come across. When this tune came out I played it on dublab until my disc was nearly dust. For all the times I've heard Asa-Chang & Junray they are still mysterious to me. This video doesn't resolve any of the mystery it just shows a lot of simple movements in sweeping reverse that comes out looking quite pretty. Enjoy the elusive loveliness.
Yellow Magic Orchestra Kirin Beer commercial
We're not typically in the practice of posting television commercials on the Labrat Camputer Monitor Matinee but this is a rare exception because... 1) it's Yellow Magic Orchestra. 2) this is a Japanese Kirin Beer commercial. 3) this is super funny and strange and awesome. 4) I'm thirsty.
