MORPHO'S HEARTY HANDCLAP

Les 5 Gentlemen - Cara Lin

Les 5 Gentlemen burned this hand-slapping dancefest to a scopitone in the mid-1960s. It might very well be the most madcap live energy you'll ever see...

Jesus and Mary Chain - Darklands

I went to see them last week at The Glasshouse in Pomona, the day before their Coachella show. It was great, I was so happy to finally see for the first time my favorite band from all times. So in honor and celebration of that occasion… here it is, Darklands.

Dolly Mixture - Been Teen

One of the most obscure indie pop bands from that era. They started I think in 1979 and ended in the mid 80’s. Some people say they were related to The Damned. But who cares… I think The Damned were related to them.

FROSTY'S TOKYO TEASERS

Here are some delights from the land of Japan. I hope you enjoy all the excitement they have to offer your eyes.

Cornelius & Takagi Masakatsu - Toner

A short snippet of visual/audio magic made by Takagi Masakatsu and Cornelius. Their ode to laser jet printers is a quick and colorful piece of inky action.

OOIOO - UMO

OOIOO have successfully covered Roberto de Simone's classic "Secondo Coro Delle Lavandaie" and the video is more than any wild beast could ask for. Strap on your tribal headgear and get ready for an adventure into the land of more than ok clay. This is a raucous adventure ready to be embarked upon.

Nobukazu Takemura - Sign

Nobukazu Takemura was one of the first dublab guests to ever grace our airwaves. He has always captured our imaginative ears with his playful melodies and flipped rhythmic sense. This animated video is an exciting accompaniment to an awesome song.

Asa-Chang & Junray - Hana

This is one of the most beautiful, strange songs my ears have ever come across. When this tune came out I played it on dublab until my disc was nearly dust. For all the times I've heard Asa-Chang & Junray they are still mysterious to me. This video doesn't resolve any of the mystery it just shows a lot of simple movements in sweeping reverse that comes out looking quite pretty. Enjoy the elusive loveliness.

Yellow Magic Orchestra Kirin Beer commercial

We're not typically in the practice of posting television commercials on the Labrat Camputer Monitor Matinee but this is a rare exception because... 1) it's Yellow Magic Orchestra. 2) this is a Japanese Kirin Beer commercial. 3) this is super funny and strange and awesome. 4) I'm thirsty.

Colores Santos – Hoy Ya No Soy Yo

This is from the early 90’s, from Argentina. It was a side project that Gustavo Cerati and Daniel Melero had. I think they only released one record, but it’s excellent. It was their take on the Acid House/Rock/Shoegaze scene of that moment.

Liaisons Dangereuses - Los Ninos del Parque

Early 80’s industrial techno hit. This concert was recorded at The Hacienda, the legendary club in Manchester. Later on Bartel went on to create Einsturzende Neubauten.

MORPHO'S SPAGHETTI FIRE

Arcade Fire - My Body Is A Cage

An excellent unofficial video from the new Arcade Fire album, edited together using clips from Sergio Leone's spaghetti western classic "Once Upon a Time in the West."

Love and Rockets - The Bubblemen Are Coming

I used to watch this video over and over when I was 13. I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. On youtube is listed as Love and Rockets, but I think technically the band is called The Bubblemen. It was a side project the band had back in those days. There’s even an EP out of The Bubblemen with a rap song and other bizarre tracks on it.
